A fold out bed is available at $30 per night; this includes doona and towel etc. Note that the additional bed is only available when all 3 bedrooms are booked.
We provide 4 complimentary pool towels in your apartment. If you require additional towels you can request this prior to or after check in.
You can certainly request an apartment however we note that this is not always guaranteed. What we can guarantee is that we will always ask you if we do need to move your booking to another apartment.
We do not guarantee reservations in Apartment 9, as this is our accessible apartment and is allocated to guests with accessibility needs.

That’s the beauty of booking with Captains; every apartment has its own complimentary jetty/mooring at the front of your apartment. Jetty sizes do vary so if you have a longer boat, you can request a longer mooring (subject to availability).
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The closest boat ramp is the King Street / Slip Road boat ramp just 200m from Captains Cove. Once you launch the boat you can drive the boat to the north past the fuel jetty and left into the canal. Note that you cannot get under the Burraboggie Island bridge due to height restrictions. Take a left at the T-intersection of the waterway and cruise down to the end of the canal where you will find Captains Cove. We always suggest placing a towel over your balcony so that it is easier to find your jetty.
Once your boat is launched you can leave the trailer on the grassed area opposite apartment 22-26. There is a tap and hose that can be used to wash the boat down and flush the motor on your departure.
Yes, you can! No need to get your boat in and out at the end and start of each day. Actually, the challenge is not to use your car as everything is accessible by boat – it’s fun to go and get a coffee and the paper by boat! The canal is not tidal and is protected from wind.
The water in the canal is safe for swimming. Bring your inflatables, kayaks, paddle boards and play in the canal; it isn’t tidal and is protected from wind. The pontoon located on the boardwalk is ideal to swim from as there is a ladder to exit the canal safely. Please note that the water in the canal is deep and we recommend that you are cautious.
Travel cots, including a sheet set and blankets, ($15 per day) and highchairs ($10 per day) are available on request from Guest Services. Pre-booking is highly recommended.
Yes, all rooms offer smart TVs. Streaming apps like Netflix, Stan, Disney and Kayo are accessible. Please note you will need to use your own account so don’t forget your login details; remember to logout when you depart.

There is an outside power point on the BBQ so cars can be charged from the apartment. You will need to bring your own 15 metre power chord.
Like any beach, lake or waterway we need to watch our kids at all times around the water. Some apartments have lawn at the front where it is easier to keep an eye on the kids playing. Apartments 15, 16, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25, 26 have lawned areas at the side or front of the apartment.
There are stairs in the apartment. If you are concerned about little ones climbing, you can bring your own stair gate.
While all of our apartments are 3 bedroom/2 bathroom, the furnishings do vary slightly, as they are owned by individuals.

Our Reception operates 7 days per week from our Mariners Cove office located at 2 Victoria Street, Paynesville. Opposite the ferry on the Esplanade. Our check in process is contactless and you will receive an SMS on the day of arrival when your apartment is ready for check in. While we are not always at our Captains Cove Reception, we are always available by phone (03 5156 7223)
Contactless check in means that you can check in at any time of the day or night.

Captains Cove is located in a peaceful location. As a courtesy to other guests please ensure that noise levels are kept to a minimum and that you respect our strict ‘no noise’ policy from 10pm.
If persistent noise complaints are received by Management, we reserve the right to ask you to leave the premises without refund of monies paid.
We love animals however we have a strict no pet policy except for assistance dogs. If you are bringing an assistance dog, please advise Guest Services prior to your arrival.
Each apartment has an undercover carpark at the entrance of the apartment. Some apartments have 2 car spaces. Additional spaces are available behind the indoor pool building and on the grassed area opposite apartments 23-26.
As our apartments are fully self-contained we do not provide breakfast services.

VLine run several services per day from Melbourne to Bairnsdale.
We are very fortunate that the Paynesville Bus service that connects with the VLine train service delivers our guests to Captains Cove; just ask the driver when you get on the bus!
Similarly, you can call Paynesville Bus Services and ask them to collect you from Captains Cove when you depart.
Check-in is from 2:00PM – You will receive an SMS when your apartment is ready to go (this is usually before 2pm). You will also receive a code that unlocks the key box located at the door of your apartment.
Please contact Guest Services to advise that you will be arriving outside reception hours, and they will provide instructions on how to access your accommodation.
The resort provides luggage storage for hotel guests pre or post-stay at no extra charge.
We are 7 days a week to address any concerns or questions during your stay. If our Reception is closed, you can visit our sister property, Mariners Cove, where the Reception is open 7 days a week and offers extensive travel information.

Smoking is prohibited inside the apartment. While you are able to smoke on the deck of your apartment, we do ask that you are mindful of your neighbours.
Guests who have smoked inside their apartment will be charged a fine.
Apartments are serviced on the 7th day (or at a time arranged with Reception) for all stays over 7 days.
Rooms are not serviced on weekends or Public Holidays.
A fish cleaning area is located at the end of the Boardwalk near Apartment 9. Please do not scale, clean or gut fish in your apartment or on the verandas or balconies.
A cleaning charge will be incurred if fish scales are found inside the apartment.

Yes, lost property is kept for 3 months and is returned upon request (at the guest’s cost). Perishable items are not kept for any period.
